NEWS

For Jessica Bicks, this weekend was surreal.

The Undergraduate Student Government (USG) Supreme Court issued a decree threatening to suspend the USG Senate if it does not resolve violations from last week's meeting.

Christie Welsh won't have to go far to play her home games in the Women's United Soccer Association(WUSA).

Kadiatou Diallo, mother of Amadou Diallo, the man shot 41 times by New York City police officers in 1999, will headline Penn State's observance of Black Heritage Month. She will speak about issues of "domestic terrorism" and how it has impacted her family.

About 100 onlookers flanked a crowd of about 50 protestors as they gathered Friday in the HUB-Robeson Center to protest potential U.S. military action in Iraq.

There is now one fewer late-night eatery for Penn State students.

Keeping the Schlow Memorial Library, 100 E. Beaver Ave., downtown is a crucial factor for the future of State College, borough officials say.

With war on the tips of many people's tongues, peace is on the mind of Chinese Happy Valley residents, who began their New Year on Saturday.

SPORTS

Joe Paterno has finally set a date for hanging up the old black Nikes.

A 1-1 weekend never looked, or felt, so good.

With 11:18 left in the second half of Saturday afternoon's Big Ten clash between Penn State and Wisconsin in Madison, the score was 28-26.

Fifty years later, they are still celebrating.

Kelly Mazzante had two reasons to celebrate yesterday: the Lady Lions got a win, and it was her 21st birthday.

This past week, Penn State women's gymnastics senior co-captain Leslie Bair posted a quote on the door to the Nittany Lions' practice facility: "Those who want to be successful will find a way ... those who don't, will find an excuse."

"We just bought our way to nationals right there."

Maybe it was because this was the team's alumni weekend. Maybe it was the intimate atmosphere of the smaller south gym. Maybe it was because Loyola-Chicago was the only team to beat Penn State in a 26-game span last year.

The Penn State men's boxing team visited Mansfield Saturday, and came away victorious thanks to the young guns. The team took three out of the four bouts, with three boxers fighting for the first time ever.

A season should read like a good book without the repetition of chapters on a continual progression toward a good ending.

Going home always evokes emotions, and junior Sally Anderson saw this first hand as she and the rest of the Penn State women's swimming and diving team traveled to Rutgers on Saturday.

The Penn State fencing team is on top of the fencing mountain no longer.

At the Penn State National Open, the Penn State women's indoor track team took on 45 teams and the flu. The team dealt with some disappointment but refused to let sickness get the best of it.

The Penn State men's indoor track team did what it planned to do at the Penn State National Open, a non-scored meet, this past weekend at the Multi-Sport Facility.

An offense can only carry a team for so long.

They can't seem to stay together.

Despite the beliefs of those who watched the game, the Northeastern Division No. 2 Div. II Penn State Ice Lions did play all three periods, not just the third, in a game where Central Michigan University came out on top, 5-4.

My Opinion: PSU should replace Dunn with Auriemma
