David W. Mead, 23, of the 200 block of South Sparks Street, will face a preliminary hearing today on charges of burglary, criminal trespass, theft by unlawful taking or disposition, receiving stolen property and criminal mischief. The charges stem from a Jan. 19 incident.
According to the criminal complaint, the victim said he was awakened by a bumping sound and found Mead standing in his apartment.
The defendant ran and the victim gave chase to find an adjacent apartment door closing.
The victim found one of his coats in the hallway and later found two more coats missing.
The value of the coats is estimated at $910, the complaint said.
