While some Penn State students have been decried at times for episodic acting out with mob behavior, it was moving to see a strong presence of Penn State students at Saturday's Washington, D.C., war protest.
While Ari Fleischer minimizes and dismisses the message and numbers of those present, it was awesome to see Penn State represented so strongly amidst the estimated 200,000 marchers.
And they were present as conscientious citizens to challenge the insanity of those who contend that a just or peaceful end to terrorism and other global problems will result from the philosophy and practice of global war advocated by the current government.
They were present to witness in the best sense of the term "pro-life," that no good or just-ness can flow from the sponsored killing of so many innocents that will inexorably result from waging this war.
As the deafening drums of war beat louder in the White House on Saturday, the people of Washington, D.C., and of this country heard the clearer, sharper voice of the people resonating across the boundaries of the District and beyond: "No more War! Never again War!"
It must not become too late for all of us to lend our reason and voice to those gathering here at Penn State and around this country, to restore a government of the people and by the people that opposes this immoral rush to an unjust war.
Unless we succeed, something sacred to all of us shall become a part of the casualties.
