Rape-related message should make you think
In response to Jimmy Pennington's letter on the urinal splashguards ("Urinal splashguards send offensive message,"Jan. 17 letter), I feel that he is uninformed about the purpose of this message. "YOU HOLD THE POWER TO STOP RAPE IN YOUR HANDS" is not implying that all men are rapists. However, it is trying to make men aware of the problem of rape and how they can help to prevent it i.e. educating themselves about the problem, protecting women they see in improper situations, etc. Even though Mr. Pennington seemed to be offended, the message did accomplish what it set out to do: It got men thinking about rape. Mr. Pennington, instead of complaining about how offensive this message is to you, why don't you start taking action to help spread the message in another way? Alison Worley
