Urinal splashguards send offensive message

While I was using a urinal in the HUB-Robeson Center bathroom, I was accused of being a prospective rapist. You can imagine my shock at learning that I could, in fact, be a rapist, even though I, like most non-raping men, am disgusted by the crime in question. There are little plastic guards around the drain that read "YOU HOLD THE POWER TO STOP RAPE IN YOUR HANDS."

This statement assumes that all men are rapists, yet some have the will power to keep it in their pants. This is as offensive as a sign on a closet that reads "THE ABILITY TO NOT BE RAPED IS CONTAINED IN THIS CLOSET, SO DON'T DRESS LIKE SOMEONE WHO WANTS TO GET RAPED."

Rape is a horrific crime that should not be taken lightly, however I find that resources could better be used on educating women in the fine art of ripping off a rapist's testicles or poking out his eyes. Or buying them all guns.
