Police Log

Accident: A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of East College Avenue and South Garner Street about 2:20 a.m. Saturday, the State College Police Department said.

The 20-year-old man landed on the hood of the vehicle after he was hit, breaking the windshield. The victim declined medical treatment.

The driver of the vehicle fled the scene, but later called police and admitted to the accident. Police did not release the driver's name, but said he will be charged with driving under the influence and failure to render aid at the scene of an accident.

Harassment/Public Drunkenness: A student reported that a group of males physically assaulted another male in Lot Brown J Saturday, Penn State Police Services said. The males were stopped and identified. Scott A. Singer Jr. of Pittsburgh was issued a citation for harassment and public drunkenness and was released to a friend, police said.

Aggravated Assault/Resisting Arrest/Liquor Law Violation: A Penn State Police Services officer attempted to stop a man involved in the assault in Lot Brown J, who had fled on foot. The officer stopped the male, who then physically assaulted the officer, police said. The visitor was identified and released, and charges will be filed, police said.

Disorderly conduct: Two men were charged with disorderly conduct and other charges after a bar fight at the Sports Café, 244 W. College Ave., State College police said.

Richard Magda, 23, and Charles Perry, 21, were asked to leave the bar, but when they refused, the bouncers had to physically remove them, police said. When police arrived, Magda attempted to strike an officer, police added.

Magda has been charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, disorderly conduct, harassment/stalking and resisting arrest.

Perry has been charged with disorderly conduct, harassment/stalking and public drunkenness.

The two men were arraigned before District Justice Carmine Prestia.

Theft: A chrome gearshift, 50 CDs, two amplifiers and two speakers were stolen from a car parked in the Nittany Mall parking lot between 6 and 9 p.m. Friday, State College police said. The estimated value of the loss is $1,400, police said.
