PSU should've called snow day yesterday

It was insane and irresponsible that classes were not canceled yesterday as a result of the snow. A "snow emergency" was declared in the area, according to the radio. Every school district from Altoona to Tyrone canceled school, including technical schools, but Penn State didn't. Why? It's dangerous outside. I live on Vairo Boulevard at Nittany Crossing. The buses were coming sporadically because of road conditions and traffic, and the thought of driving (particularly in a "snow emergency") is nothing short of scary. Many people who live off campus don't have cars and thus don't have this option anyway. Even students who don't have to brave the roads to get to class risk anything from a terribly unpleasant walk to one that's downright dangerous. If you want to claim that you care about students, don't put them in unnecessary danger by forcing them to go to class when road and sidewalk conditions are this unsafe.
