Three in four students who attended Penn State in 2001-02 received some level of financial aid in their pursuit of a college degree, according to new university numbers.

Penn State students who hate waking up for 8 a.m. classes may be able to stay in bed a little longer. University President Graham Spanier is urging officials to schedule fewer 8 a.m. classes and move them to late afternoons or evenings.

No sanctions will be imposed on Beta Theta Pi fraternity, 220 N. Burrowes Road, as a result of an investigation launched last month by the fraternity's international chapter.

Elections for three seats on the Interfraternity Council (IFC) executive board took place at last night's president's council meeting at Phi Gamma Delta fraternity, 319 N. Burrowes Road.

For nearly 70 years, it has been illegal to buy liquor or wine on a Sunday from a Pennsylvania state store.

Legislation increasing the penalties for dealing the drug Ecstasy was passed in the state House last week and now will be sent to the governor's desk for authorization.

A Huntingdon man was arraigned yesterday on charges of disorderly conduct, receiving stolen property, and harrassment and stalking in connection with a disturbance at the Uni-Mart Center, 3180 W. College Ave.

State College Borough is providing free parking in the business district during the holiday shopping season. Free parking for shoppers is now in effect and will continue until Dec. 31.

After starting the season 0-3, including consecutive losses to Ivy League teams, the Penn State men's basketball team won't get a break today when it takes on Clemson.

It has become a late fall semester tradition, something to set your calendars by. Seemingly without fail, as November slowly rolls into December, the Penn State women's volleyball team gets ready to host NCAA tournament action.

Wrestlers upset with tourney finish

In the 1987 movie Over the Top, Lincoln Hawk, played by Sylvester Stallone, heroically overcomes insurmountable odds to win a major armwrestling tournament. When compared to the accomplishments of Penn State Shenango Campus freshman Bob Wilson, however, Hawk's achievements seem unimportant and inconsequential.

For many students, music and math couldn't seem more different.

As the popularity of file-sharing programs such as Kazaa and LimeWire attests, advances in the technology of digital music have undeniably had an effect on the music industry.

In recent years the increased production and sales of CD burning technology has led to massive amounts of software pirating.

Music is an integral part of people's lives all over the world. It is well known as a universal language, easy for children and adults to understand and one with inherent abilities to stimulate the mind, body and emotions.
