Letter to the Editor
Readers respond to letters about homosexuality (3)

I was quite distressed to look through the Collegian's letters section on Dec. 2 and read Ms. Becky Keister and Mr. Matt Mellott's letters condeming homosexual acts and criticizing the Collegian's coverage of LGBTA issues.

Ms. Keister, do you see homosexuality as a bad decision and as a sin simply because the religion you put your faith into deems it wrong? This world spins from other walks of life beyond those of religion. I'm glad in your letter that you "realize that they're normal people." However, you treat homosexuality as a black-and-white issue whereas you paint your stance as being a part of the 68 percent segment of the student population unsupportive of LGBTA issues in shades of gray.

Mr. Mellott, I'm curious about which sources you've consulted that consider homosexuality "neither normal nor healthy," and as a movement in the '60s solely for political benefit.

The fact that you even tried to tie in the "priest abuse scandal" to the LGBTA is as deplorable as your knowledge on the subject you tried to write about in your letter.

I hope those that detest homosexual acts also realize they are also directing their hate towards those fellow students. It's a shame Ms. Keister and Mr. Mellott choose to hate rather than choose to educate themselves on the topics the Collegian reported.
