Being a former Undergraduate Student Government town senator from last year, I must admit I'm disappointed in the lack of school pride shown by the current senators. Even last year in the midst of a "Conservative Coalition" majority in the senate, we had the awareness and foresight to draft and approve legislation congratulating Coach Paterno on his record breaking 324th career victory.

Penn State athletics, including a possible Heisman Trophy candidate, bring recognition and financial prosperity to this institution; not acknowledging these facts is a disservice to Penn State. When a chance for USG to show a voice of unity and school pride such as this arises, they must take the opportunity and act. Unfortunately, this senate is achieving new lows and is becoming more unfavorable with the students who take pride in the Blue and White.
