In Lisa Moore's Nov. 18 letter, I find it an interesting point. Yes, I'm somewhat surprised that people get desensitized to fire alarms, but it all depends on if you're human or not. Have you ever lived in an apartment building where the fire alarm goes off a few times a week and sometimes a few times a night? After the fifth time, it gets pointless. Just like terror warnings, covering the government's butt, if you cry wolf too much, no one will listen.
After two weeks, my roommates just covered our apartment alarm to quiet it (after running outside with marshmallows on sticks). I suggest that people report the people that pull alarms, or even install cameras. In real life, people get desensitized very easily. If you want to run outside five times a week in the snow, go for it, but don't complain to everyone else on their decision.
