Low acceptance rates contribute to shortage

In regards to Michele Jarchin's Nov. 15 article about financial aid for nursing students who receive financial aid, I would just like to point out that the nursing program at Penn State is contributing to the shortage, not trying to help fill it. A close friend of mine attempted to apply for the nursing program from the Eberly College of Science. As a sophomore in the biology program, she had the needed background, a GPA well above what's required for any major at Penn State. She was rejected, as they claimed that they accept only 10 transfer students into the program. Must not be such a major shortage if they accept only 10.
