A traffic accident early yesterday morning left a man trapped in his car by downed power lines, the State College Police Department said.

The driver was traveling south on Atherton Street and ran a red light at the intersection of Atherton Street and Hillcrest Avenue, police said.

He apparently suffered a diabetic seizure, and his car weaved off the road, striking a utility pole then hitting a parked car in a driveway at 516 N. Atherton St., police said. Alpha Fire Co. extracted the driver. He was transported to Centre Community Hospital where he was treated and released.
