Leader of ICC uses questionable tactics

The abusive and questionable tactics of the International Churches of Christ (ICC) have been well-documented and the information is widely available on the Internet. I'm not speaking about the individuals on the Penn State campus, but rather on the organization as a whole. I personally have read numerous accounts that detail hypocracies of their theological doctrine as well as the questionable recruitment tactics, tactics that include the leader Kip McKean calling his ministry "wimps" for not baptizing enough people.

Kip has also implied that he has created the only true kingdom of God. Read the accounts for yourself and you will see that this self-righteous, self-serving individual, Kip McKean, fits the description of a charismatic leader that Dave and Rachel Edwards elude to in their definition ("Article didn't provide evidence of 'cult' label," Nov. 12 letter).

I'm sure that the individuals in State College affiliated with the ICC have the best intentions at heart. They have just been misguided to hold true to a misinterpretation of the Bible that stems from one man's personal philosophy. And any religion that works to isolate the individual and make them dependent upon the group is a cult.

I strongly urge anyone who's considering getting involved in the ICC to weigh through the information that is available. Your own identity may depend on it.
