Fraternity waives preliminary hearing

The fraternity charged with providing alcohol to minors in connection with the fall of a 20-year-old woman from her eighth-floor window waived its preliminary hearing yesterday.

Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity, 346 E. Prospect Ave., waived the hearing on charges of selling or furnishing liquor or malt or brewed beverages to minors in connection with a party the fraternity held at 224 S. Barnard St.

Police charge that Natalie Paglione, the woman who fell from her window, attended that party. They also charge the fraternity's president, Brad Nelson, bought and delivered seven kegs of beer for the party.

Paglione's blood alcohol content that night was found to be 0.135 percent. The fraternity's trial is scheduled for February 2003.
