Letter to the Editor
Readers respond to articles on marijuana use (2)

As I read the Nov. 7 article about Penn State student marijuana use, I couldn't help but reflect on Matthew Waller's comments. I decided to let it go, but when the sentence that I was astonished about made it into the "This Week In 'Quotes'" section of the Nov. 8 edition, I had to break my silence. Mr. Waller, do you honestly expect readers to read your comments and sympathize with you? You claim that smoking marijuana in your room was "no one else's business," but the last time I checked, smoking marijuana here is illegal.

That's why it's someone else's business, because you're willfully breaking the law. You can be as upset about the consequences as you want, but just remember that you brought it on yourself.

I commend you for actually stating your name in the paper and releasing the information of what happened to you, but please spare us the pity. The sanctions for your actions were justly imposed on you.
