Communicate to locate a seat within the HUB
I was rather surprised to read a letter Nov. 8 concerning etiquette in the HUB-Robeson Center. I do understand there are crowding issues. It's almost unavoidable on a campus with more than 40,000 students. The HUB is a meeting place, a place to study, relax, eat. It's not a "limited-time parking lot," where cars will be towed if they exceed a time limit. We aren't cars. Tables are another thing. If you haven't noticed, there are few tables that seat only two people. Not everyone is going to have three other people to sit with. Should they not eat? Next time you can't find a seat, maybe ask someone sitting alone to move their bag or coat. Only if the person said no would I consider him or her to be inconsiderate. Chances are, they'll say yes. Sit down. Chances are, they won't bite. Christina A. Cooke
