The stakes are high in today's gubernatorial election and many Penn State students know it.

The stone chimney of the fraternity house previously owned by the Phi Mu Delta fraternity, 500 S. Allen St., smashed into an adjacent home at about 11 a.m. yesterday.

It's official.

The investigation into the murder of a College Township couple is beginning to focus on the forensics tests of evidence recovered at the crime scene, the State College Police Department said.

As the race for Pennsylvania governor comes to a head today, several members of the Penn State community have questioned how much focus the candidates have placed on key student issues.

A decision from a referendum question on today's ballot might affect the way volunteer fire and ambulance companies across the state are funded.

Mike Fisher, the Republican gubernatorial candidate, is the state attorney general. His running mate for lieutenant governor is Jane M. Earll.

Ken Krawchuk is the Libertarian candidate for Pennsylvania governor. Running for lieutenant governor with Krawchuk is Henry E. Haller III.

If elected governor, Green Party candidate Michael Morrill said he will support increasing the minimum wage to $11 per hour, oppose restrictions on abortion and advocate giving same-sex couples equal rights under Pennsylvania law.

Ed Rendell is the Democratic candidate for governor. A resident of Philadelphia, he has served as mayor and district attorney of the city. Rendell has also served as the general chair of the Democratic National Committee during the 2000 election. His running mate for lieutenant governor is Catherine Baker Knoll.

Alright, it's time to 'fess up.

It wasn't the optimal way to end the fall season, but the Penn State men's golf team will have to accept it.

Talk about being bad hosts.

The Penn State fencing team began the defense of its national championship this weekend, garnering 10 medals at the 23rd Annual Temple Collegiate Open at McGonigle Arena in Philadelphia.

Maybe Larry Johnson's on to something.

Let the speculation begin.

Penn State's overall record: 10-7. Penn State's conference record: 3-3.

It may have a young team, but that did not discourage the Penn State women's rugby team this season, and it was able to capture the No. 1 seed.

She went from team leader in high school, to the bottom of the barrel in a fight for playing time as a first-year player for the Penn State field hockey team.

With three team's seasons already over, this weekend will put an end to some additional women's soccer teams 2002 campaigns.

The wrestlers for Penn State wrestling coach Troy Sunderland's team had their chance to prove where they belonged Sunday in competition at the Penn State wrestle-offs.

Over the weekend, the Penn State women's cross country team was supposed to follow the age-old script of losing to teams with higher rankings and winning traditions at Saturday's Big Ten Championships in Terre Haute, Ind.

The Wisconsin Badgers won their fourth consecutive Big Ten men's cross-country championship on Sunday.
