Letter to the Editor
Brother's final days highlighted by music

A letter of thanks is in order to the five members of the Blue Band who gave a special serenade to my brother after the Northwestern game in the intramural field parking lot.

The fight song that was played brought a smile to my brother's face that I shall never forget.

These five students did this kind deed on a request. They didn't ask for anything in return. It's nice to know that in this day and age, there are compassionate people willing to make a difference.

My brother made his last visit to Happy Valley that weekend as a small reprieve from the struggle he was having with cancer.

Also, thanks are in order to Coach Joe Paterno for sending his sentiments to my brother. Again, a small gesture made a joyful day in my brother's final days.

My brother lost his battle with cancer this past week. Penn State lost an alumnus, a supporter and an avid fan. He will be greatly missed.

Thanks to all of those who had a hand in making this special occasion a memorable one.
