DNC money thwarts opposition to Rendell

In regards to The Daily Collegian's Nov. 1 endorsement of Ed Rendell, I'm disappointed that the Board of Opinion feels that he is the best candidate for governor of Pennsylvania. This couldn't be further from the truth.

Be ready for four years of taxing-and-spending, bigger government and poor administration from a man, who -- this should upset most of you -- during the Monica Lewinsky scandal felt that Bill Clinton did nothing wrong, as Rendell held his role in the upper echelons of the Democratic National Committee.

I watched the ads during the primaries put on by state Auditor General Bob Casey, Jr., who I felt would have been a better choice for the Democratic ticket. If Rendell really did have issues running the city of Philadelphia, he's going to have more problems running the commonwealth.

The only real reason Rendell's going to win this election is the fact that the DNC has been pumping large amounts of money to fuel this Clintonista's campaign. Mike Fisher, who I feel is not a real strong candidate for the Republicans in the first place, is literally powerless to counteract the effects from the bullying of the Rendell machine.

Maybe if the current Gov. Mark Schweiker had decided to run, things would be different.

In any case, I hope those of you remaining in Pennsylvania during the next four years are ready for the problems that will come about from the Rendell administration.

Yes, I know I left Pennsylvania because I couldn't find work in the state (due to the fallout from failed Clinton policies, which are the root cause of the current economic downturn), but I know that a lot more of you future alumni will find yourselves in the same boat for a long four years.
