Mike Fisher, the Republican gubernatorial candidate, is the state attorney general. His running mate for lieutenant governor is Jane M. Earll.
Two platforms of Fisher's campaign are developing Pennsylvania's economy and raising educational standards.
Fisher said he has established a six-step plan for enhancing the economy.
It calls for making Pennsylvania more attractive to businesses by lowering taxes, reducing the amount of unwarranted lawsuits against corporations and lowering government spending.
Other steps for the economic plan include improving job training programs through better school education, fostering a partnership between schools and businesses, bringing newer technologies to the state, and creating a marketing team to attract businesses from around the world.
Fisher said he plans to focus on early education.
His goals are to make sure children can read by third grade and develop basic educational skills by middle school.
Fisher said schools must be held accountable for students' performances and students should be evaluated by standardized tests.
Schools whose students perform well would be rewarded under Fisher's plan, and schools that do not perform well would be subject to state oversight.
Fisher, who opposes abortion rights, has previously served as a state representative, a state senator and a county prosecutor.
He is in his second term as Pennsylvania attorney general.
