If elected governor, Green Party candidate Michael Morrill said he will support increasing the minimum wage to $11 per hour, oppose restrictions on abortion and advocate giving same-sex couples equal rights under Pennsylvania law.
The ordained American Baptist minister is making the first run for Pennsylvania governor by anyone from his party.
Morrill supports local control over decisions, something he said makes him different from many liberals.
Morrill also supports legalizing marijuana, which would be sold only at state liquor stores and be taxed under his plan.
Other issues on his platform include supporting the right to bear arms, as long as current laws are enforced, and ending electricity deregulation in the state. Morrill also supports universal healthcare.
The 47-year-old is the former executive director of the Pennsylvania Consumer Action Network and former head of Pennsylvania's Campaign for Choice.
Morrill was a Democratic Party committee member before leaving because the party ignored issues, he said.
His running mate is Vicki Smedley for Lt. Governor. The 55-year-old supports smaller class sizes in public schools and a cleaner environment.
Presidential election of 2000 Green Party candidate, Ralph Nader has endorsed Morrill, citing Morrill's care about the environment and the economy.
Morrill supports channeling economic development funding into small businesses to keep jobs in the community.
