Ken Krawchuk is the Libertarian candidate for Pennsylvania governor. Running for lieutenant governor with Krawchuk is Henry E. Haller III.
A registered Libertarian since 1993, Krawchuk has served two terms as the Eastern vice chair of the Libertarian Party of Pennsylvania and has served three terms as the legal action committee chair.
The Libertarian party was founded in 1971 and is the third largest political party in Pennsylvania and in the nation, with more than 500 elected officials serving in offices nationwide.
Krawchuk's goals include reducing the threat of crime, decriminalizing drugs and ending parole for violent criminals.
He believes the government should not interfere with any private affairs and believes all groups of people -- homosexual, race, etc. -- should be treated no differently under the law.
Krawchuck believes any group, person or business who bring pollution to the environment need to be traced back to the group and be forced to clean it up.
Krawchuk, a Philadelphia native, graduated with a degree in physics from St. Joseph's University in 1975.
A Democrat for 20 years, Krawchuk switched to the Libertarian party after becoming disgruntled with the high taxes and government regulations affecting advancements in technology, he said.
Krawchuk ran for governor in 1998 and became the first Libertarian to surpass the 1 percent mark for overall votes, receiving 33,591 votes.
