The State College Police Department is investigating a three-car crash that injured four people yesterday. It occurred at the intersection of South Atherton Street and Shingletown Road at 9:24 a.m.
Police said a car traveling southbound on South Atherton Street did not stop at a red light. The car struck a pick-up truck that was eastbound on Shingletown Road. A third vehicle was then struck by the first car, which had been pushed into the northbound lane after the first collision.
Four people were injured. One person sustained serious injuries and was transported to Altoona Hospital. A second individual sustained moderate injuries and is being treated at Centre Community Hospital.
The remaining two individuals were treated and released for minor injuries.
Traffic on South Atherton Street was affected for about one hour. Anyone who witnessed the accident is asked to contact police at 234-7150.
