Column devalues sniper tragedy in Washington, D.C., attacks 'straw man' (2)
In regard to Daniel Moore's Oct. 23 column regarding the sniper attacks: Mr. Moore tries to cleverly draw a parallel between President Bush and Iraq and the Washington, D.C., sniper and the victims. In all my time of reading The Daily Collegian, this column is by far the most disgraceful piece of journalism I have seen. While it's fine for Mr. Moore to disagree with Mr. Bush's politics, it's absolutely disrespectful, inflammatory and insensitive to devalue the real tragedy that's occurring in Washington by comparing it to Bush and Iraq. Furthermore, it's irresponsible that the editors of the Collegian permitted this piece to be printed. No distinguished periodical would have published such an article, and I'm disappointed that the Collegian would. Penn State deserves better. John Griffith
