Police are still trying to contact the son of a College Township couple found murdered in their home over the weekend as another search of the victims' house yielded more evidence yesterday.

The State College Police Department conducted a more in-depth search of William and Georgeann Opdenhoff's home, yard and the surrounding wooded areas yesterday. Police also employed a bloodhound to help determine the exit route of the perpetrator. Additional evidence, which police declined to reveal, was found, police said.

The autopsies of the Opdenhoffs, which were completed yesterday, revealed that the couple died as a result of blunt force trauma to their heads, Centre County Chief Deputy Coroner Judy Pleskonko said.

Police announced yesterday they have ruled out the use of a firearm as the impact weapon. Police said no firearms are believed to have been kept in the home.

The couple was found by police around 12:15 Monday morning after a female relative was unable to contact the victims. Police believe the couple was killed Saturday evening.

Police have located two of the couple's children, who did not live in the home, but they have been unable to locate their 24-year-old son, Daniel Opdenhoff, who resided with the couple.

"At this point, we just want to talk to him," police Chief Tom King said at a press conference Monday.

Police are asking anyone with information regarding Daniel Opdenhoff's whereabouts or anyone who might see him to contact State College police immediately by calling 911. They are also advising people to not make contact with the man.

"Daniel's present condition -- state of mind -- is unknown," King said.

Daniel Opdenhoff is about 5 feet 11 inches tall, 150 pounds with short, sandy blond hair and blue eyes. He might also have a short beard.

Although his whereabouts remain unknown, his vehicle, along with those of his parents, remains at their 319 Hill Drive residence.

"We know [Daniel Opdenhoff] is not in a vehicle registered to him," King said Monday.

However, he said it is possible Daniel Opdenhoff could be in another vehicle.

Police found the victims in the living room. They said there were no signs of forced entry into the house.

The last known contact with William or Georgeann Opdenhoff was a telephone conversation that took place sometime late Saturday afternoon, police said.

William Opdenhoff was the superintendent of the State College Area Schools from 1993 to 1999 and remained active in the field of education. Georgeann Opdenhoff worked one-on-one with teachers and students to aid children with learning disabilities. They both worked in district's elementary schools in the early 1970s.
