Dinner with the Paternos, tickets for Penn State President Graham Spanier's tailgate with a suite at Beaver Stadium, and a megaphone signed by the Penn State cheerleaders are some of the items available at the Happiest Valley Auction.
The auction will be at 5 p.m. today at the Holiday Inn Express, 1925 Waddle Road, in State College.
Sports memorabilia will be auctioned to raise money for Alpha Community Ambulance Service Inc., which serves the Centre region.
The auction will raise funds to construct a building for the ambulance company.
The company resides in a building that is not large enough to house its ambulances, said Lindsay Terry of The Barash Group.
The Barash Group, ambulance and community members and representatives from Penn State comprise the committee that is in charge of the event.
Terry said the auction organizers hope to raise $50,000 for the ambulance company.
The total amount of money needed for the new ambulance building is $3 million.
The fund now has about $1.5 million from other fundraisers and community donations.
The facility will be built near Porter Road, east of College Avenue, on land donated by Penn State, Terry said.
The building will have sleeping and training areas for emergency medical technicians and it will also provide the company with much-needed space, she said.
Other items to be auctioned include footballs signed by sports figures.
These include Joe Paterno, former Pittsburgh Steelers' Hall of Famer Franco Harris and Philadelphia Eagles' quarterback Donovan McNabb.
Events at the auction will include appearances by Tatiana Gutsu, 1992 Olympic gold medalist in gymnastics, and the Penn State women's basketball team.
More than two guests will be available for pictures.
Rose Moffett, a committee member from The Barash Group and a volunteer with Alpha Ambulance, said that community involvement was great and Moffett was also quick to talk about and praise the "overwhelming response from the community."
Three silent auctions will begin at 5 p.m.
There will also be a live auction that will begin at 7:30 p.m.
Refreshments will be provided.
Tickets are available through Alpha Ambulance, Rider Auto Inc., 1703 W. College Ave.; Wegman's Food Markets Inc., 345 Lowes Blvd.; and Nittany Bank.
