Paterno can keep mum on certain game plans
In response Chris Korman's Oct. 4 sports column ("Joe Paterno needs to remember fun of game"): I feel both agreement and disagreement. There's no doubt that a larger-than-life image has been given to Joe Paterno. However, the fault of creating this aura doesn't fall upon the man, but on its creators. The second issue: Quite frankly, those who are in the media must realize that the game of football is a competitive sport. Therefore, decisions about who will start, what position, as well as plays that will be used must be kept secret. Just as in a war or a game of chess, it's necessary to keep one's decision making a secret to maintain a tactical advantage. It's pure arrogance on the part of the media to insist that Paterno answer every question that's asked of him. José Lallave
