Mike Cooper, Council of Commonwealth Student Governments president, was quoted as saying that defacing the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender community and its allies (LGBTA) poster was "an act of ignorance."
The only "act of ignorance" here would have to be the publishing of an article on something akin to a joke scrawled on a bathroom wall; the idea that because someone writing a joke on a flier warrants front-page newspaper coverage is just plain absurd.
The joke itself can be explained relatively easily, however, further negating the need for a newspaper column.
The joke is the manifestation of people's resistance to the highly aggressive tactics of the gay, lesbian and transgender communities to "educate" the college students of America.
These rallies, usually under the guise of diversity education, reach Gestapo-like levels at some colleges.
Although Penn State's are relatively mild by comparison, this article indicates definite trends in the wrong direction. The mere fact that these groups are targeting people while they are still young and impressionable (and not while they are older) -- as the civil rights movement did -- indicates that their ideas are not marketable to a sensible individual, i.e. the average adult.
