A 34-year-old State College woman was found dead at about 9 a.m. yesterday in Spring Creek Park.

Kelly Lynn Hockenberry of 501 Mobile Ave., in College Township, was found in the creek off of the Walker Drive entrance, State College Police Lt. Diane Conrad said. She had been there for several hours before she was found, Conrad added.

An autopsy was performed yesterday afternoon. Centre County coroner Scott Sayers said the cause of death is pending toxicology results which will take several weeks.

Last night, Conrad said police were still investigating, though they did not suspect foul play. There did not seem to be a struggle, she said.

"I think I can say nothing's jumping out at us now," Conrad said. "We're still looking at the situation."

The mother of one was known to visit the park regularly, Conrad said.

"She sometimes goes down there for relaxation," she said.

However, it was unknown when Hockenberry arrived at the park.

Her brown 1989 Chevrolet Celebrity was found parked in the lot off the Walker Drive park entrance. Conrad said her body was found in the creek to the right of Hockenberry's car.

The water level of the creek last night was less than two feet deep.

Hockenberry was found by a family member, but Conrad would not release the relative's name.

She was last seen at her place of employment at 5 p.m. Monday, police said. Police would not say where she worked.

Conrad asked that anyone who might have seen Hockenberry or her car in the lot since 5 p.m. Monday to call State College police at 234-7150.

"If someone noticed her car there, if they saw her, it would help," Conrad said.
