Don't bash local store to argue against war
This is in response to Daniel Moore's column about the "open-air" market. I know exactly what supermarket he was writing about; his hints made it obvious, and if all he wanted to do was vent about George W. and our government, then he picked the most irrelevant metaphor. That supermarket to which he referred is just that -- a supermarket! The only idea behind the café was to give its customers a little treat, perhaps a lunch break with a variety of foods to choose from. I used to work at this same market back home, and believe me, no one is trying to push it off as some faux European-style "open-air market." So if all he is trying to do is give his opinions about why we are going to war, I think he could have done a bit better than putting down a grocery store for the majority of his piece and leaving only a paragraph for his "fantastic 90-yard leap." Come on, Daniel, tell us how you really feel. Anne Kelley
