Friend Chris Frassinelli warmly remembered
Sunday morning, many of us lost one of our closest friends at Penn State. When we found out about the death of Chris Frassinelli, or Fraz, we were shocked and deeply saddened. Though we all had very different relationships with our friend, the impact he created in our lives is the same and almost impossible to sum up in one article. In a world that seems so selfish, cold and skeptical, he stood out for his selfless generosity. The casual tone and misinformation about Fraz in Tuesday's Daily Collegian article upset us. We would like people to remember him through the eyes of those who loved him. He spent the summer in Italy, not seven months. Plus, the mention of his grades was inappropriate and certainly not a reflection of his intelligence. Fraz had an enormous heart and a determination to fit everyone inside of it. Two of us, Kara and Ellen, met Fraz early this summer when we studied and traveled together in Italy for nine weeks. Instantly, we became the best of friends, struggling to adjust to unfamiliar territory while building an irreplaceable relationship. There were many times when Fraz was our backbone, our only support system. He made the best of every situation and absorbed everything around him, when many would simply rush by and not take notice. He had a tremendous knowledge and love of art history and architecture, and he infected others with his enthusiasm. One of us, Sara, met Fraz through mutual friends and was immediately drawn to his giving personality. He was always eager to meet new people and instantly became a very influential friend, with many conversations ending when the sun came up. He was truly an unselfish, unconditional companion to us. He often let us know how much he loved and valued his family and his Italian relatives. Chris Frassinelli had an incredible way of touching everyone he met. His funeral is 11 this morning at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Lansford, northwest of Allentown. Kara Michael
