Drop the bottle antics; focus on the cheering

Normally when reading a column like Mr. Bassinger's ("Fans' antics should be rethought," Tuesday, in the sports section), I would have thought: Get over it, we're just kids having fun. After this weekend's game against Louisiana Tech, I have completely changed my mind. Our fans have produced similar results to that of the New York Giants' fans. I was hit by a water bottle at this Saturday's game. This really was not out of the ordinary, considering everyone has been hit by something at Beaver Stadium, but this time the water bottle was full and it hit me in the side of the head.

A 20-ounce water bottle hitting me in the side of the head did cause a good-size bump and a slight concussion. I second Mr. Bassinger's opinion: Refrain from your bottle-throwing. Act as the 12th man out there this Saturday vs. Iowa, and cheer so loudly that the Hawkeyes will not be able to hear themselves think.
