A 31-year-old State College man was arraigned on rape and sexual assault charges yesterday in connection with an alleged rape of a man in August.
Mark Alonzo Williams was arraigned before District Justice Brad Lunsford on one count of rape, one count of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and one count of sexual assault.
Williams was committed to Centre County Prison in lieu of $25,000.
Centre County Prison received a detainer from Cumberland County for other charges against Williams, preventing him from leaving on bail last night, Centre County Prison Lt. John Perryman said. "He's not going anywhere."
Williams is scheduled for a preliminary hearing 9 a.m. Wednesday at the Centre County Courthouse in Bellefonte.
After the victim reported the alleged assault, he was taken to Centre Community Hospital for an examination and the injuries were found to be consistent with sexual assault, police said.
According to police documents, the following happened in the early morning hours of Aug. 22:
The victim was at the Shandygaff Saloon, 212 E. College Ave., drinking for several hours when he left at about 12:30 a.m. to catch a bus home.
He was feeling ill so he got off the bus in the 1100 to 1200 block of North Atherton Street and walked to the parking lot at Domino's Pizza, 1100 N. Atherton St., where he called his roommates for a ride.
The victim said Williams approached him in the parking lot and told the victim he was going to a party with "alcohol and a lot of hot girls," asking the victim if he wanted to go. The victim was unaware of where they went; however, Williams told him they were at The Pointe apartment complex, 501 Vairo Blvd.
The victim remembers going into the bathroom and vomiting several times and when the victim returned to the room, Williams was sitting in a chair naked, watching a pornography movie. Williams then told the victim to strip down because the girls would be there soon.
The victim said Williams then performed sexual acts on him without his consent.
The victim then walked through a wooded area and called his roommates, who were still trying to locate him along Atherton Street. A roommate found the victim walking along Oakwood Avenue when the victim told his roommate a man had tried to rape him.
The victim told police that Williams contacted him Aug. 26 and asked if he wanted to meet up with him. Police urged the victim to trace the call and later verified a meeting place where police intervened. Williams gave police a different address and phone number and told them he was a Penn State student. Verizon traced the cell phone number called to the victim as William's phone.
The victim identified Williams as the person who assaulted him; Williams denied the allegations.
