Saturday Night Live's Jimmy Fallon, fresh off his hosting stint on the MTV Video Music Awards, just released his first album, the amusing The Bathroom Wall.
The first few tracks, including the first single "Idiot Boyfriend," are fun and diverse songs. Fallon raps on "(I Can't Play) Basketball." "Drinking in the Woods" is a twangy country folk tune, and "Road Rage" and "Snowball" are outright rock.
The second part of the album is excerpted from Fallon's stand up routine. With titles like "Dorms, Shower Baskets & The Walk of Shame," "Hotplates, Four Digit Numbers & the Little Fridge," and "Gotta Get a Fake I.D.," it's not difficult to figure out at whom this album is aimed.
Fallon does not disappoint his target demographic. College students will love his hilarious lyrics, fun beats and interesting perspective on college life.
The album would not be complete without some of Fallon's popular celebrity impersonations, such as Robin Williams, Nicolas Cage and Adam Sandler, which are showcased on what is possibly the best track, "Troll Doll Celebrities."
The album ends on a high note with "Hammertime," where Fallon sings popular '80s classics over MC Hammer's "U Can't Touch This." This song will have all children of the '80s joyfully singing along.
The songs aren't quite as quirky and catchy as anything by Sandler, but Fallon could still have a single or two in rotation on college radio stations for a while and more albums in the future.
