Letter to the Editor
Ignoring 9/11 moment in class was insensitive

On Wednesday, I had four classes, and not one professor even acknowledged the fact that it was Sept. 11. It was as if the acts of terrorism had never even happened. I had at least expected a short speech in the beginning or a moment of silence at 8:46 a.m. in my 8 a.m. class when the first plane had hit, but it was nothing except mono hybrid and dihybrid crosses. God forbid, a professor stops his or her lecture four minutes early or even for a minute to mourn the thousands of people that died a year ago. I'm not saying that classes had to be canceled or that all activities should have ceased. We needed to go on with our day. If we didn't, we would have let the terrorists win, but for not one of my professors to say a word is appalling and, quite frankly, a poor display of patriotism.

For the professors who did acknowledge Sept. 11, I praise you and believe you made the right choice, but for those of you who didn't, maybe it would be different if you lost a loved one in this tragic event in our history and maybe it would be you writing this letter of disappointment.
