Stadium policing of IDs unequal, frustrating
I thank and applaud the university for trying to increase security and ensure our safety at Beaver Stadium. However, the student ticket policy needs to be changed in order to treat the students with dignity and respect. I know the ID requirement has been in the rules for several years, but it has not been policed until now. Is it reasonable to expect that everyone entering the student section must show a Penn State student ID to get in the stadium? What if your brother or girlfriend comes to visit you, are they not allowed to sit in the student section? What if you are bringing a prospective student to the game? How are the people sitting in the non-student sections policed? Must they show alumni cards? How do their guests get in? Why are they allowed to use their tickets freely but the students cannot? For example, take Ms. Senior Gate Bouncer, who was working last weekend. Ms. Gate Bouncer didn't think our friend from out of town (a spring 2002 PSU alum) was allowed in the game because she did not have her ID. Kudos to Ms. Gate Bouncer; you did your job, but why did you let the man bring in his young child on his shoulders, not 10 people in front of us? Was this child a student of PSU? What gives Ms. Gate Bouncer the authority to determine when and when not to apply the rules? Aaron Mulivor
