Swimfan didn't even deliver that.
I did end up jealous of our hero, Ben Cronin (Jesse Bradford), which is probably not the reaction I should have had to a guy whose life was being destroyed by his deadly Southern belle stalker, Madison Bell (Erika Christensen).
It's just hard to feel bad for a guy who not only went to high school in a Gap uniform, but also was being recruited for Stanford's swim team, had a long-term girlfriend, worked at a hospital in his spare time and, on top of it all, found time for a one-night stand.
Frankly, he deserved what he got for having an affair in the school's swimming pool.
And don't think that the sex in the swimming pool is a justifiable reason to see this movie -- it's the sole racy scene and it's not even that good.
As for violence, there's plenty of injury and death.
Unfortunately, the characters are too one-dimensional for you to care that they drown in the pool, yet too innocent for you to laugh at them for not figuring out the whole plot ahead of time.
The only time I ended up laughing was when the movie kept going 15 minutes after I thought it had ended happily ever after. But that was laughing at myself for actually staying to see the end.
Then again, if you really want to be scared, try this movie. You'll be terrified that a movie this bad actually made it to the theaters.
