Festival marks Indian independence

The Indian Student Association, Graduate Student Association, Hindu Vedic Society, and the Cricket Club of India are sponsoring the third annual Ganesh Festival from 5 to 10 p.m. this Saturday. The festivities include cultural programs such as regional dance, Indian classical music shows, and ancient Vedic chanting, as well as traditional Indian food.

According to the Ganesh festival Web site, the event takes place annually in India to celebrate the country's independence. The purpose of the festival is to celebrate the knowledge and wisdom of the country and share an aspect of the Indian culture to fellow citizens of State College. The event will take place at Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 780 Waupelani Drive.
