Letter to the Editor
'Express' bus for Vairo is often cramped, slow

This will be my third year living on Vairo Boulevard and also my third year of using the Centre Area Transportation Authority bus system.

I have witnessed the crumbling value of this transportation service.

The new "N and V" Express is clearly its worst idea to date.

It's bad enough these buses are always full when they stop at my apartment complex (Nittany Crossing) and cause me to continually miss classes even when I have left for the bus stop one whole hour early.

But I also get left on the way home!

Once I finally do catch a bus, I get to stand on it with about a hundred other students crammed so tight that I don't even have to hold on to the hand rails!

Next I get to cruise to Aaron Drive after making numerous stops on Atherton (even though the bus is an "express") and stopping at Wal-Mart (even though it's an "express").

It should be viewed as an atrocity that it takes any CATA bus 30 to 45 minutes to move people a geographical distance of only 2 miles!

Most of the people who live off-campus live on Vairo; however, whenever a transportation decision is made, it usually aversely affects the Vairo customers, making the majority of bus riders cruise up Aaron Drive to let all of seven people off the bus loaded with eighty Vairo riders.

Even though the bus service wasn't great before, it was exponentially better than it is now.

I don't know how they are going to fix any of these problems but just know that I represent many more silent customers who are very dissatisfied with their new service.
