Football team to hold 'Rally in the Valley'

Coach Joe Paterno and the Nittany Lion football team will be on hand Friday night for the "Rally in the Valley" pep rally in anticipation of Saturday night's Penn State-Nebraska clash in Beaver Stadium.

The rally will begin Friday at approximately 9:00 p.m. in Rec Hall, immediately following the Penn State-Villanova women's volleyball match, that begins at 7:30 p.m. Coach Russ Rose's volleyball squad will bring a 6-0 record into Friday's match.

The No. 25 Nittany Lions (1-0) will be facing No. 8 Nebraska (3-0) for the first time since 1983 and the first time in Happy Valley since capturing a dramatic 27-24 victory in 1982, en route to the school's first National Championship.

The Nebraska game begins at 8:00 p.m. and 107,282-seat Beaver Stadium is sold out.

The contest will be televised to most of the nation on ABC-TV.

The Penn State Sports Network and Sports USA Radio Network also will broadcast the contest.
