No Refund Theater announces audition schedule for Fall Semester season

No Refund Theater will hold auditions from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday through Wednesday and from 6 to 10 p.m. Sept. 12. Interested students can sign up in the lobby of Chambers Building.

No Refund Theater is an organization that provides all students, regardless of major, an opportunity to become involved in theater. Almost every weekend of the academic year, No Refund Theater stages a production in 111 Forum. The plays are produced, directed and peformed entirely by students and are free to the public.

Shows being cast through this set of auditions include Waiting for Lefty by Clifford Odets, The Cripple of Inishmaan by Martin McDonagh, The Miracle Worker by William Gibson, and No Exit by Jean-Paul Sartre.

The audition process is as follows: After signing up in the lobby, students will fill out a brief questionnaire to help in the casting process. The actors must then select a monologue that they wish to use for the audition. If they do not select one in advance, a monologue will be provided.

After spending several minutes alone with the monologue, the actors are called into the audition room in groups of three to five, and the directors of the plays observe each performer. Directors might also request to hear additional dialogue from the shows, and the actors will be give time to practice before performing these scenes for the director.

After the last night of auditions, the directors will cast the shows, and cast lists are subsequently sent to all actors who auditioned -- whether they received a part or not.
