Agency important for return of Song

A local United Way agency, Housing Transitions, Inc., is going to provide housing for Bansoon Song, mother of missing Penn State student Cindy Song.

Bansoon Song was living in university-provided housing until yesterday, however, with the influx of students arriving in the fall, Penn State could no longer provide her with housing. This is a great way to show how the community steps up to help another member of the Penn State community in her time of need.

Bansoon Song has been searching for her daughter since the early morning hours of Nov. 1 when the then-21-year-old integrative arts major vanished. Making Bansoon Song's stay here as comfortable as possible should be a high priority. Bansoon Song traveled here from Seoul, South Korea, which could make it hard for her to acclimate to life in this town, thousands of miles away from her home, if the university and community were not so supportive of her. On top of that, in her time of need, with frustrations and worries surrounding her daughter's disappearance, providing her with this housing is very important and helpful, giving her one less thing to have to worry about on her own and allowing her to fully concentrate on the search for her missing daughter.

Thus far, the university has provided Bansoon Song with a computer, modem, printer and Penn State e-mail account to aid her in finding her daughter. We hope Penn State, Housing Transitions, Inc., and other community members and agencies continue to support the search, which thus far, has had few breakthroughs.

Cindy Song has been missing now for nearly nine months. But the search for Cindy Song must not end. We hope that steps such as the those made by Housing Transitions, Inc. will help bring Cindy Song back to Penn State and her family.
