Not all women enjoy being called 'sluts'

Erin Lindsay's commentary regarding the "deal with it" view on catcalls made by men is very disturbing.

It is true that human beings are sexual and do pay a great deal of attention to the opposite sex if that is their sexual preference.

However, there is a great difference from calling a woman "sexy" and calling her a "slut."

I highly doubt that women want to be swept off their feet by those ego-boosting catcalls such as "slut" and "whore."

Those degrading catcalls do embarrass women and make them feel uncomfortable to walk down the street especially if there is a high occurrence of it happening.

Women should have the right to walk alone down the street in peace without having some "chauvinistic pig" calling her a derogatory name.

Women are not objects who have no feelings and should take verbal abuse because some drunken pig whims it. I was under the impression that a university was populated by students who are respectful and civil.

Apparently, this is not the case since women should have to deal and accept catcalls as being part of everyday life. Well, Ms. Lindasy, women don't have to take it and should make their discontent vocal.

Because it's clear that women are not equal to men since we are subjected to put up with this degradation among other inequalities.

Therefore, I applaud Ms. Bosslett for making it known to the student population about the immaturity and lack of civility of certain catcalls.

Ms. Lindsay brings up the point that women do make catcalls by honking their horns at men jogging through campus.

True, there are some women who do make catcalls when they see an attractive man. However, it is extremely unlikely that she would yell "man whore" and "dog" -- unless of course, you like to be called that.
