During a typical Saturday at the Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts, more than 40,000 visitors fill the streets of State College to look at the exhibits.


Not even the threat of rain could muffle the excitement of some early attendees of the 36th annual Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts.


She came here a little over four years ago on a whim, straight out of a stint in rehab and two months in a halfway house. And when she arrived she had no desire to go to school or to make Penn State a better place, just a longing to get away from Northampton, the small town where she grew up and endured some painful years of self-destructive behavior.

Much to the happiness of many students, interest rates on education loans have been reduced to the lowest repayment rates in student loan history.

A blood drive from noon to 6 p.m. today in Pollock Halls is one of several upcoming opportunities for volunteers to respond to the nationwide emergency appeal to all eligible blood donors.

An unknown individual threw a rock inscribed with anti-fur messages through the store window of Mr. Charles Dress Shop, 228 E. College Ave.

Rep. Lynn Herman, R-Centre and Clearfield, presented a grant check to the Philipsburg Historical Foundation yesterday morning.


SPORTS

Although he did not attend Penn State University as an undergraduate, Chuck Migliaccio has been a diehard Penn State football fan since 1976 and a season ticket holder since 1994.


The Double-A All-Star game is being played today and the timing couldn't be more perfect for the Altoona Curve.

He hasn't been in State College for about two years now.
