Individual throws rock with anti-fur messages

An unknown individual threw a rock inscribed with anti-fur messages through the store window of Mr. Charles Dress Shop, 228 E. College Ave.

The rock included the phrases "fur = death," "fur is dead," "animal murderers" and "fur is murder."

The act occurred at 3:10 a.m. yesterday. Police are not releasing any details about the investigation at this time. The Daily Collegian received a letter to the editor yesterday from an individual claiming to be the person who threw the rock. The author of the e-mail claimed to be from the Animal Liberation Front.

The Animal Liberation Front could not be reached for comment.

The writer said, "Early this morning, Charles Fur was paid a visit by the ALF. A rock that may not necessarily have cracked the glass barrier of the display window still made its mark as a wakeup call to this fur store."

A second e-mail claimed that the ALF had thrown paint onto the store's window yesterday afternoon that was "the color of blood, that which the animals are depraved [sic] of just for fashion."

Representatives from Mr. Charles could not be reached for comment, but the State College Police Department said no additional vandalism had been reported.

The second e-mail threatened additional action: "Come on, Mr. Charles ... stop selling fur or risk further problems!"
