Acoustic guitarist gives family concert

In celebration of Earth Day weekend, acclaimed acoustic guitar artist Jim Scott will give a concert of his lyrical songs that promote ecology and peace.

The show will run from 4 to 6 p.m. tomorrow at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Centre County's sanctuary, located at 780 Waupelani Drive Exstension.

The family-oriented concert will benefit the national Green Sanctuary program of the Fellowship, which is also sponsoring the show.

Scott has gain notoriety for his well-crafted songs and poetry and a sense of humor that relates to his audiences.

A virtuoso guitarist, Scott switches between nylon string and steel string guitars for a wide range of musical sounds.

A resident of Shrewbury, MA, Scott comes from a varied background of jazz and classical music, yet he considers himself a folk artist.

Scott is also known to many as the voice on the Paul Winter Consort's celebrated album Common Ground.

He also co-composed Missa Gaia/Earth Mass.

He has also recorded eight albums of his own original material.

His work with schools has also led him to create songs for all ages.

Admission will be $10 for adults, $5 per child, with a maximum charge of $25 per family.
