I have the solution. To what you may ask? To this ridiculous Christianity vs. homosexuality war that has been gracing the opinion page since Friday.
What is this wonder solution? Be responsible for yourself and only yourself.
If you disagree with homosexuality I recommend remaining heterosexual. On the same token, if you disagree with Christianity, one can easily assert that you shouldn't become a member of the Christian faith.
We must be critical thinkers. Why can't we, in contemporary American society, recognize that all around the world people make different choices concerning their own lifestyle? As a recent convert to the Hindu faith, I have come to the realization that we all have the right to make our own decisions in our lives -- religion and sexual orientation among these decisions.
What may be deemed "right" for one of my peers may not be so for myself. Why can't we simply respect everyone's personal decision and simply acknowledge the fact that it's just not our place to say who's closer to reaching the most righteous conclusion.
Speaking as a heterosexual, former Roman Catholic male, I just don't appreciate the notion that I have the right to condemn others for their personal lifestyle decisions.
If someone chooses to be homosexual, what does that have to do with me at all? Nothing!
I do think it's conceivable to simply disregard something that is socially so trivial such as religious affiliation or sexual orientation.
Mind your own business and life will be easier.
