Letter to the Editor
There is a long history of Sharon's 'racism'

Many people are unaware of the fact that the racist philosophy of Ariel Sharon, the current leader of Israel, has a long history. On Dec. 17, 1982, Sharon gave an interview to Amos Oz, a leading Israeli author, which appeared in the newspaper the Davar. The following quotes are taken from that interview. Among other things, Sharon describes himself as a "Judeo-Nazi."

"You can call me anything you like. Call me a monster or a murderer. ... Better a live Judeo-Nazi than a dead saint."

What many Americans don't understand is that Ariel Sharon is still applying this same brutal and racist philosophy to relations with the Palestinians today.

Many people don't understand that it is Israel that occupies Palestine. Many people don't understand that it is Israel that bulldozes the houses of Palestinian civilians; it is Israel that creates mass graves and dumps Palestinian bodies into them; and it is Israel that prevents the Red Cross from delivering food, water and medicine to wounded Palestinians.

Many people don't understand that the Israeli government massacred thousands of people in Sabra and Shatila in 1982.

Many people don't understand that the Palestinians have lived under brutal occupation for 54 years. Many people really don't understand that American tax dollars have paid for these atrocities.

I urge the administration of Penn State help provide the Penn State community with balanced information about the history of the crisis in the Middle East.
