Letter to the Editor
There are no excuses for acts of terrorism

The recent letter to the editor by Assata Richards was one of the most entertaining letters I have read in this paper.

"i" find it ridiculous to excuse the actions of those involved in the Twin Tower attacks and the Oklahoma City bombing by saying that the participants acted because they felt oppressed. There is no excuse for such actions. The "I have nothing to lose, so I might as well kill lots of people" logic is troubling to me indeed. I will not try to understand, or overstand, as Ms. Richards creatively said, the reasoning behind people that undertake such horrendous acts.

I don't have a perfect solution to ending violence in the world, but allowing acts of terror to go unpunished is about as far from a perfect solution as I can imagine.
